What’s the difference between plantation shutters and louvre shutters?
The word louvre denotes horizontal parallel slats (louvre blades) in a door, window, or window covering, which can slope open or closed, or angled in between. Louvre shutters keep weather out and/or allow for air flow in.
Plantation shutters are indoor louvre shutters typically made with wood, PVC (plastic) or Insulite. Plantation shutters are interior window furnishings made from vertical slats which can be opened and closed to allow for sunlight and breeze.
Outdoor louvre shutters are external shutters made from weather-resistant material like marine grade steel and robust aluminium. Used on the exterior of a home, the movable aluminium louvre panels allow sun and air to get through but keep rain out.
